Early in 2009, I decided to capture an image every calendar day for an entire year. 365 days later, I have more gray hair, have aged a decade and alienated loved ones, but I did it and, most importantly, I didn’t miss a single day. Comments and criticisms are welcomed, both on composition and technique, and on content. Thanks for looking.

A Classic (Day 170) While I was roaming around town tonight looking for my daily, I ran into a really cool guy (a Nikon shooter no less) getting out of an awesome 1950’s era GMC 100 pickup truck. Had a difficult time getting a good angle due to cars and buildings around; I didn’t feel right accepting his kind offer to move the vehicle to a more open space. Hope he won’t mind my taking liberty with the shot in post as it was a little flat straight out of the camera (my fault, not the truck’s). I left the dirt ... thought it added character. Update: In response to Pam's request below to see this in B&W, click here. (2009-06-23 6:32pm)

on June 25, 2009Thanks Pete, I really love the B/W, but I think this time I like in the color. Its just a neat picture either way. The more I look at your pictures the more I really like the content. The scissors ,is just awesome. Maybe because you are finding extremely everyday things with a different angle. When Lea and I had looked through your book at one of our meetings it was extremely enjoyable. Great work ,I am impressed and it gives me a kick in the ass to look at the smaller things. Thanks

on June 24, 2009I like this angle Pete, to me it is perfect, but I would love to see it in B/W. Bring one to a meeting.

on June 24, 2009Also... I was wondering about the slight softness so I took a peek at it in x3. My 12mm lens is pretty soft but this image looks to be sharper and it just appears to be compressed quite a bit, so that is probably the culprit here. Not sure if you intentionally upload heavily compressed versions or not, but thought I'd at least mention it before people start buying prints.

on June 24, 2009Great use of the 11mm super-wide. The comp and crop is almost perfect. Bonus points for the hint of roof line above the hood and for chopping into the headlights to keep the symmetry of the bumper in the lower corners. I like the sliver of bumper along the bottom but I do wish there was just a little more of it. You'll likely lose it completely if this gets printed, matted, and framed; as it should. It could also use just a little boost in exposure on the truck itself. It's going to print darker than what you're seeing on screen.
