Early in 2009, I decided to capture an image every calendar day for an entire year. 365 days later, I have more gray hair, have aged a decade and alienated loved ones, but I did it and, most importantly, I didn’t miss a single day. Comments and criticisms are welcomed, both on composition and technique, and on content. Thanks for looking.

Misdirected Determination (Day 14) As I drove underneath these boots hanging on a power line (in another friggin' snow storm I might add), I couldn't help but wonder where their owner might be if they had focused the energy and determination it took to get them up there on more useful pursuits (e.g. school, career, etc.). I am sure they wouldn't have spent a drunk Saturday night in frigid New Hampshire trying to accomplish this impressive feat. on February 2, 2009Hmmm... I always saw these (around Keene) and presumed it was done by bullies who had accosted some poor kid on his way home from school, wrestled his shoes off, tied 'em together and, like the Bolas of the South American Gouchos, launched them skyward until they became hopelessly hooked forever...
Or not...
Great shot Pete!

on February 1, 2009Always wondered as to why this gets done, although, here in New York, I suspect it's just to be doing it - no good reason. Cool capture.

on January 30, 2009To Guest: I had never heard that before. In doing some research, you are right. In most cases they use white shoes believe it or not. Due to the proximity to the police station and the condition of the houses around, I am going to assume drunk person.

on January 29, 2009Shoes hanging on a wire like this most of the time means a house near by deals drugs at least it does in my state, just seen this pic and thought I would share the info.
