So Pete, What Is Nawset? (Day 357)
Lately, I have had a few questions about the origin of “Nawset” so I thought that I would provide a brief explanation for those interested. If you aren’t, read no further.
As a child, I summered, and then subsequently attended high school, on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. My favorite local beach was called Nauset. It continues to be my favorite spot on earth and we try to make it back at least once a year.
I decided fifteen years ago to try to get “Nauset” on a license plate but it was taken so I went phonetic with “Nawset” (the original Indian spelling for the place before the Europeans decided to Frenchify it). This later became my url and the rest is, how do you say, history. Told you it would be brief.
Interestingly, a Boston-based heavy metal band has recently popped up with the same name. Not sure whether they came up with it on their own or saw me driving on Route 128. Not a big fan either way.
Footnote: The above is the result of a spell of free time and Photoshop Mobile for the iPhone; it really is amazing what you can do with the thing.

on December 29, 2009Wonderful shot and story to accompany it. I must admit to wondering where the "Nawset" name came from.. I like this effect as Chaz said very Andy Warhol like.
