Early in 2009, I decided to capture an image every calendar day for an entire year. 365 days later, I have more gray hair, have aged a decade and alienated loved ones, but I did it and, most importantly, I didn’t miss a single day. Comments and criticisms are welcomed, both on composition and technique, and on content. Thanks for looking.

You Might Be A Redneck When ... (Day 116) … you've prepared for a time when you’ll be driving underwater. I just love the ghetto PVC pipe air intake and coffee can filter cover. I know, it’s a Jeep thing and I wouldn’t understand. Blah, blah, blah. For an additional shot that sums up this owner’s attitude, click here. on December 28, 2009Nice shot, I like the hood logo better. I don't get offended by the redneck comments at all. We go out and have a grand time, then; yep, have wings and beer. I don't try and explain the Jeep; nor do I try to explain the motorcycles to all the nervous nellies who constantly remind me of how dangerous they are....(yawn). Then again us photo types sometimes get curious stares from the people who don't understand a 4 lb DSLR camrera and lens when they have a $99. P/S that takes "great pictures".
Snorkels serve their purpose. Some spend more money on a snorkel setup than others, but when the water is looking like this:

you'll be dang glad when you make it through the other side.
A hydrolocked engine can be ruined (cracked block) in an instant if you try to crank it after it stalls.
enjoy the D300.....I'm looking to replace my D100 with that model soon.

on May 6, 2009Perhaps this "Redneck series" might be an opportunity to challenge yourself? Almost without exception, each photo posted thus far is of a "perfect" subject or against a flawless background (granite countertop, stain-free carpet, etc)..... compositionally interesting and demonstrating a thoroughly competent understanding of photographic principles. But is there more to offer?
The redneck might be an easy target for a quick laugh... or an opportunity to explore something outside of your comfort zone. A well-worn, sunfaded and greasy John Deere hat may prove more interesting than another cubicle chotchkie.... and a rusty old heap of a truck could offer more photographic texture and excitement than a perfect reflection off the paint of a brand new car. Beauty may come from unlikely sources...
Food for thought.... (perhaps deep fried?) :)
