Early in 2009, I decided to capture an image every calendar day for an entire year. 365 days later, I have more gray hair, have aged a decade and alienated loved ones, but I did it and, most importantly, I didn’t miss a single day. Comments and criticisms are welcomed, both on composition and technique, and on content. Thanks for looking.

Just Take A Little Off The Top (Day 163)
… but leave my ear.
True story: when I first moved to Keene in 1990, the first barber to cut my hair actually clipped my left ear with her scissor and I proceeded to bleed through the remainder of my hair cut. I found Kim, my current barber, for my next haircut and we have been together ever since. So, let’s see … forty-five minutes once every three weeks for nineteen years totals 247 hours of chair time with Kim.

on June 25, 2009Pete, This could be hung in a gallery. Like most of your work here, it is wonderful.

on June 19, 2009WOW! you have outdone yourself! this is outstanding work. has a classic feel with the worn leather and the range of lights/darks is spot on! love the hairs to the right. love the cropping of this too. and what slays me is that you did this with a powershot! this destroys my arguments with my wife that i NEED a 5d mark ii! can't show her this shot!

on June 18, 2009Great shot, and the tones and details here are fantastic. It looks like it was done in a B&W darkroom and printed by a master. Wonderful.

on June 18, 2009Love the crop and textures in this -- wonderful treatment, too! My husband has a standing appointment with the girl that does his hair. Her mother did his hair until her retirement, whereupon the daughter took over. When we go out of town, he threatens to bring her with us if we're gone on the day of his appointment! :-)

on June 18, 2009Wow, 19 years with one barber. You're going to be devastated (and possibly gun shy) if/when Kim retires and you need to trust someone new. Nice choice to go monochrome on this shot. I love tools of the trade photos (almost any trade) especially when you can tell the tools have been well used. Kudos for not throwing the traditional comb in the shot just because barbers use combs.
