Could You Pass The Salt Please? (Day 201)
Left Vienna this morning and headed for the small town of Hallstatt where we spent the night.
Besides the charm of the small village and the amazing mountains surrounding it, is the Hallstatt salt mine; the oldest in the world (in continuous operation for roughly 5,000 years). We took a tour after dressing in colorful overalls. Highlights included a ride on a mine train, wooden slides (the reason for the overalls), a cheesy light show over an underground lake, and large blocks of illuminated salt (as shown above). Just watch the blood pressure. Oh, and for a funny story, ask me how I hurt my leg inside.
