Don't Look Down (Day 69)
Amazing what you can do with a light, point and shoot with a ten second timer, total faith in a strong, but fully-extended tripod; and a somewhat cavalier attitude towards the safety of cars and pedestrians below – yes, you guessed it, dangle your camera six feet out and five floors up. Please note the shadow of a car in the lower left corner; wonder if they saw me through their sun roof...
I was in Springfield, Massachusetts this weekend attending a Rocky Mountain School of Photography workshop, which I strongly recommended if you get a chance. This was taken in the hotel parking garage (well, outside the garage if you are being technical). And true story, a security officer ended up visiting not once, but twice.

on April 18, 2009This is really cool. Love the perspective and all the lines.
Thanks for the comments earlier. I did nothing special on the dandelion shot which perplexed you. Just used a very wide aperture at a very short distance and manually focused through the outer layer of fluff to the seeds in the center. All the out of focus 'parachutes' diffused the center of the image. I'm going to try another approach by removing just one or two seeds and shooting through the opening for a sharp focal point surrounded by the diffused look. Might be interesting.
